Sources

Every figure on this site is derived from data the state lotteries publish themselves. Nothing is scraped from other analysis sites, and nothing is estimated where an official number exists.

Colorado publishes how many of each prize were printed, but how many are left only for the top prize. Delaware publishes only the top prize of each game, with how many were printed and how many are left. Idaho publishes how many of each prize were printed, but how many are left only for prizes of $25 and up. Indiana publishes only the upper prize levels of each game, with how many were printed and how many are left. Iowa publishes only the prizes of $50 and up for each game, with how many have been claimed and how many are left. Kansas publishes how many prizes are left at each level of a game, but not how many it started with. Kentucky publishes how many prizes are left at each level of a game, but not how many it started with. Maine publishes only the prizes of $500 and up that each game still has, with how many are left, and neither the game's top prize nor how many of any prize were printed. Minnesota publishes only the prizes of $500 and up for each game, with how many were printed and how many are left. Nebraska publishes only the top two to four prize levels of each game, and how many of each are left, but not how many were printed. Pennsylvania publishes only its top six prize levels per game, and how many of each are left, but not how many were printed. Vermont publishes only the top prize levels of each game, and how many of each are left, but not how many were printed. Wisconsin publishes only the top prize of each game, with how many were printed and how many are left. For those states we publish the counts as they stand and compute nothing from them — no payout, no expected value, no current odds — and say so on every page. Why.

Draw games

11 of the 139 draw games here are published by more than one official body — Pick 3 and Pick 4 and Fantasy 5 and Pick 2 and Pick 5 and Florida Lotto and Mega Millions and Powerball and Jackpot Triple Play and Millionaire for Life and Lotto America — which lets us do something the scratcher data does not allow: check each draw against several independent feeds before publishing it. No draw in those games goes on the site on one source's word.

The other 128 have one official publisher and no second opinion to be had, so those draws are that publisher's record and we would rather say so than imply a cross-check we did not perform. The Sources column below names the feed behind every game, and each game's own archive page says it again.

Where the sources disagreed

This is the part worth reading. Official feeds are not identical, and a site built on one of them cannot tell. Every discrepancy we found is listed below — 101 of them across 1,030,607 draws.

• Missing draws. New York's open-data feed — the most convenient free source, and the one many frequency sites are built on — is not short any draw the other official sources carry, as of our latest reads. New York restored 9 more on 1 October 2026 and 30 September 2026, including 7 November 2022, the record $2.04 billion Powerball drawing; our tables had carried them all along. We publish the union, so our counts are complete where a single-source table is quietly short. We wrote up every one of them, with the steps to reproduce it.
• Contradictory draws. Two feeds sometimes publish different numbers for the same drawing. In 2 cases we defer to the feed closest to the drawing itself — the game operator's own data — rather than picking a favourite state.
• Feeds that contradict themselves. In 95 cases a single official feed publishes two different results for one drawing, and there is no second opinion to settle it. We publish neither. Those draws are absent from our tables and listed below, rather than resolved by picking whichever row the feed happened to return first.

If a game's sources disagree in a way no operator feed can settle, we do not publish that game at all until it is resolved. That rule is enforced by the build, not by anybody remembering to check.

How often we read them

Once a day per state, at staggered times, because states publish on their own schedules. If a read fails, the previous day's data stays in place and the affected pages say so instead of pretending to be current.

Corrections

If a number here disagrees with the official page, the official page is right and we want to know: contact us. Lotteries occasionally revise prize counts retroactively, which is one reason we keep every daily snapshot.
