No payout figure, on purpose. Wisconsin publishes only the top prize of each game, with how many were printed and how many are left. A payout, an expected value or the odds today each need every prize level and how many were printed, so for Wisconsin we show exactly what its lottery publishes and compute nothing from it. A figure built from part of a table would be wrong, not rough: it is how one state's partial table produced games that appeared to pay back more than they cost. How we treat partial prize tables.

Why there is no payout figure for Wisconsin

Every other state on this site is ranked by current payout: how much of each dollar still in a game comes back as prizes. That figure needs every prize level and how many of each were printed. Wisconsin publishes only the top prize of each game, with how many were printed and how many are left. So the figure cannot be computed, and an estimate would not be a rough version of the truth — it would be wrong in a direction nobody could see.

What Wisconsin does publish answers the question most people bring to this page: which games still have their top prizes, and how many. Those counts are shown here as published, every day, with the date the Lottery last updated them. The overall odds on each game are Wisconsin's own printed figure, not ours. The method is on our methodology page.

About Wisconsin scratch games

Wisconsin sells scratch games in price points from $1 to $50, and the Wisconsin Lottery publishes, on each game's own page at wilottery.com, its price, its top prize, its overall odds, its start date and — while the game is on sale — two counts: how many top prizes were printed and how many are still unclaimed, which Wisconsin says it verifies weekly. Below the top prize it publishes no count of what is left at all. Each game's "Features and Procedures" page prints the prize structure the game started with, but not what remains of it.

That is why Wisconsin's pages here carry no payout, expected value or current odds: each needs every prize level and how many of each are left, and Wisconsin publishes that for one level only. What its figures do answer exactly is whether a game's top prize is still out there, and because Wisconsin publishes how many were printed, games here are ordered by the share of their top prizes still unclaimed, then by Wisconsin's overall odds.

Wisconsin announces a game's end of sale ahead of time; a game with a date in the "End of sale" column is still sold until then, and prizes can be claimed for 180 days after it — the "Claim by" date shown for each game. Once a game's sales have ended, Wisconsin stops publishing its top-prize counts, so it leaves this list.

Where to buy: licensed Wisconsin Lottery retailers across the state. Small prizes can be cashed at retailers; larger ones are claimed from the Lottery, and the back of the ticket gives the exact limits.

Tax: Wisconsin withholds 7.65% state income tax and 24% federal on prizes over $5,000; the lottery tax calculator has the rates. Withholding is not the same as what you finally owe. For anything large enough to change your tax bracket, talk to an accountant before you claim.

Scratch-game outcomes are fixed when the tickets are printed; nothing you read here changes the ticket in your hand. A top prize still being unclaimed says nothing about your chance of winning it. Play for entertainment, with money you can afford to lose.

Wisconsin scratch games: common questions

Which Wisconsin scratch games still have top prizes left?
41 of the 47 games Wisconsin lists, as of October 14, 2026. First in our order (games with a top prize still unclaimed first, by the share of their top prizes still unclaimed, then by the better overall odds): CROSSWORD MILLIONAIRE ($50, 2 of 2 $1,000,000 top prizes left); MEGA FORTUNE ($30, 2 of 2 $1,000,000 top prizes left); CASHTASTIC ($20, 2 of 2 $200,000 top prizes left).
What is the biggest top prize still unclaimed in Wisconsin?
$2,000,000, on $2 MILLION ROYALE ($50), with 1 still unclaimed as of October 14, 2026.
How many Wisconsin scratch games have no top prize left?
6 games are still on sale with every top prize claimed, including CROSSWORD TIME ($20), MYSTERY PRIZE CROSSWORD ($30), $1,000,000 CROSSWORD ($50). Buying one cannot win its headline prize.
Why is there no payout or expected value for Wisconsin?
Wisconsin publishes only the top prize of each game, with how many were printed and how many are left. A payout needs every prize level and how many were printed; without them any figure would be invented, so we publish none and show what the lottery publishes instead.
Which Wisconsin scratch game has the best overall odds?
$2 MILLION ROYALE ($50), at 1 in 2.90 as Wisconsin prints them. Overall odds count every prize, most of them small, and are fixed when the game is printed.
How often is this updated?
We read Wisconsin's official prize figures every day; the last read was October 14, 2026. Claims reach the counts only when the lottery processes them, so a prize can be won and not yet shown as claimed.
