How to read these numbers
Current payout is the share of each dollar that the prizes still unclaimed will return. Any-prize odds include free-ticket wins; cash odds exclude them; profit odds count only prizes larger than the ticket price, which is the number most people actually mean when they ask about their chances. All three shift as prizes are claimed, which is why a game's printed odds stop being true the day it goes on sale. Our methodology shows the arithmetic, and sources lists exactly where each state's figures come from.
